 Incidents Involving Misbehavior on the Court

If an official encounters behaviour problems with a coach, spectator, or student athlete.the official will follow prescribed procedures for carding and discipline as laid out by CVA rules.

  • If the situation becomes escalated the official in charge will make note of the incident on the scoresheet. 

  • Everything should be noted on the scoresheet and make sure a copy of the scoresheet is sent to the Commissioner.

  • Contact the Commissioner immediately via email or by phone the next morning.

  • In an explosive situation, go to the most senior teacher in the gym and ask him/her to intervene.  (assuming he/she is not involved)

  • Complaints about teacher-coaches, athletes, or community coaches will be referred to the Commissioner.  In all cases it is the Commissioner or member of the Executive who contacts the principal of the school to inform him/her of the situation. 

  • In some cases the matter will be referred to B.C. School Sports.  In the case of an abusive parent – inform the “home” coach or tournament director that the match will not continue until the person is removed from the gym

  • Incidents involving the behaviour of an official will be referred to the head of officials
