Incident Report  - Violations of Code of Conduct -  Coach
(form is available at bottom of this page)

The role and conduct of the coach in a school sport setting is crucial and critical for the positive development of athletes.  A strong Code of Conduct supports the education-first and student-centred philosophy of the Fraser Valley Volleyball Commission and BC SCHOOL SPORTS.  The procedure for filing an Incident Report for Violations of Code of Conduct by a coach is as follows:

Filing a complaint - To be considered a valid complaint an Incident Report Form (Violation of Code of Conduct - Coach) must be completed.  The Incident Report Form must cite the reason for the complaint and particulars of the alleged violation, including the naming of other parties involved (if applicable). The Incident Report Form, containing the complainant’s signature, must be faxed to the Fraser Valley Volleyball Commissioner immediately.

Who can make a complaint? - An Incident Report can be filed by a Volleyball BC official  or member school coach who has information that leads him/her to believe a violation has occurred.

Notification - The principal from the school of the offending coach will be notified immediately by the Fraser Valley Volleyball  Commissioner.  Notification will be effected by a phone call followed by delivery of a fax or  email.   During the time that the complaint is being investigated the coach will be suspended from coaching.  The Fraser Valley Volleyball Volleyball Commissioner will collect written reports from the parties listed on the Incident Report Form and forward them to the school’s principal.

Resolution - The principal will investigate the complaint.  Once the principal contacts the Fraser Valley Volleyball Commissioner in writing (email or fax) stating that the matter has been dealt with to his/her satisfaction the coach will be allowed to return to his/her duties as coach.  Note:  Although the coach may wish to pursue informal resolution to the complaint  this process does not preclude the possibility a formal complaint being submitted  to BC SCHOOL SPORTS.

Refer to:  BC SCHOOL SPORTS - Penalties for Violations of the Coach’s Code of Conduct

Section 8.4.1 -Procedures for dealing with incidents that occur during a game, practice or athletic contest

Section 8.4.3 -Procedures for dealing with a coach ejection from a game, meet,  tournament or event.

The Fraser Valley Commission as a member of BC SCHOOL SPORTS recognizes that the administrative head of each school is held ultimately responsible in all matters in his/her school which concern interscholastic athletic contests.  The expectation of the Fraser Valley Volleyball Commission and BC SCHOOL SPORTS is that principals will ensure that Fraser Valley Volleyball Commission and BC SCHOOL SPORTS policies established for member school interscholastic athletics will be followed.
